Colts

The squad for this seasons Melton Colts team is strong in both numbers and ability due to the combination of 3 very successful teams. The squad holds players who have represented both county and country, and also players who have been playing the game through each level of the club (i.e. mini and junior sections).

When the strength of this squad is added with the coaching team and training structure, the equation only gets better for Melton Rugby Club. Training with and playing off the back of the Melton First Team, who won East Midlands Division 3 with a 100% unbeaten record last season, can only help the development of the squad, and with 4 regular senior teams who have scheduled fixtures most weeks, the gate is wide open for both match time and gaining experience for all players.

Training for the Melton Colts is every Wednesday. The sessions start at 7.00 PM and run for approximately 90 mins, in which a wide range of skills are covered by the coaching team. Each player is guaranteed an excellent reception and intense training drills at training sessions. Coaches from local Premiership club Leicester Tigers often assist with training, and more recently there have been regular appearances from Academy players to pass on their knowledge of the game.

The age for Colts players is between 16 and 19. There will be matches every Saturday starting September 2nd 2006, and on weeks where there is no fixtures for the Colts team, players will be asked to play for the senior teams.

 Seniors

Training for the senior teams takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Again, these sessions start at 7.00 PM and last approximately 90 mins. Older players are welcome to attend, but must remember that these sessions are a lot more physical and intense.
